Academic standards, chosen by the Tennessee State Board of Education, provide a common set of expectations for what students should know and be able to do at the end of a specific grade or course. Local school districts determine the order in which these state-mandated standards are addressed in their schools. It is the policy of the Clarksville Montgomery County School System to follow the dictates of state statutes in the selection and use of all instructional materials. Parents or legal guardians may request to review any instructional materials used in the classroom of the parent or legal guardian’s child following the guideline set forth in Instructional Policy INS-A073 found at: https://employees.cmcss.net/misc/ViewISO?filename=INS-A073.pdf.
The chart below outlines the units of study for English I and possible major assignments or field trips that could be used to enhance student learning or solidify mastery of standards in each unit. This chart is not inclusive of every assignment for English I, as additional or different assignments may be created based on the needs of students. Specific details for major assignments will be shared with students and parents or legal guardians as the standards related to the assignments are addressed in class.

Classroom Expectations:
- Students will enter the class without talking, physically distanced, and go to assigned seat.
- Students will put their level folder in the tray by the door.
- Students will listen respectfully to the teacher for instructions.
- Students will raise their hand to speak and wait to be called on by the teacher.
- Students will be active participants in their learning and ask clarifying questions as needed.
- Students will not put their head down, appear to be sleeping, or sleep in class.
- Students will complete all assignments and submit them by the due date.
- Students will remain seated for the teacher, PBSA, or Admin. to dismiss them.
- Use technology appropriately: Google Classroom, PLP required sites
Classroom Routine
- Enter class, place level folder in the tray, and sit in assigned seat.
- Team led or teacher will read the standard & objective target.
- Complete the warm up. It will be on the board, in google classroom, or on paper.
- Listen for instructions for assignment.
- Complete assignment(s)- handouts or PLP.
- Handout assignment- will be kept in a folder in class.
- Ask questions if needed.
- Complete the wrap up or exit ticket.
